Questions
- How does this page know my time zone?
- Your browser reports the time zone your device is set to, such as America/New_York. The page reads it locally; it asks for no location permission and sends nothing to us.
- Why does it show the wrong time zone?
- It shows your device's setting. If you are travelling, using a VPN does not change it, but a device set to a fixed zone or with automatic time zone turned off will show that zone instead. Fix the setting in your device's date and time options.
- What is the difference between a time zone and a UTC offset?
- A time zone is a region that keeps the same clock, with a name such as Eastern Time. Its UTC offset is how far its clock is from UTC right now, such as UTC−4; in places with daylight saving the offset changes twice a year while the zone stays the same.
